Strikers

After a stellar 2024, which included the Strikers U/14 mixed team winning the Minor and Major U/14 mixed district SE premiership and the Men’s team clinching a dramatic final at the Hockey Centre to win the VIC League 3 SE minor premiership, it’s time to gear up for 2025!

With the season around the corner, preseason is in full swing with training on Tuesday for all ages and genders at 6:30 PM, and on Thursdays at 6:30 PM for those 16 and under and at 7:00 PM for those older than 16. It’s a great opportunity to shake off some rust and have fun with passionate hockey players from around West Gippsland.

We hope to put together as many teams as possible to enter into the Metro Leagues, with our main focus on U/14 boys and girls, U/16 boys and girls, a mixed U/18 team, as well as Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Masters teams. This can only happen with the support of as many players and support staff as possible. So, if you are interested in playing in the Metro Leagues, please fill in the Expression of Interest on the website or Facebook page, and we will contact you ASAP. We are always looking for coaches and team managers, so if playing isn’t your thing but you’re still keen to contribute to hockey in West Gippsland, we would love to have you around.

The theme this year for The Gippsland Strikers is Connection! We wish to create a connection to the local clubs in the WGHA, players past, present, and future, coaches, managers, and families. Our hope is to foster a culture of connection that brings people closer to the game of hockey and to the club, leaving a lasting impact.

We will be running a few events throughout the year, including a coaching course, player development program, and the Gippsland Championship. So, keep an eye out for more details as they become available.

If you are keen to help out the Gippsland Strikers in any way possible, please make sure to contact the club via email and social media. We would love to make you a part of the family. Even if you don’t wish to commit to a whole season, there are always volunteer spots for one-off events on the volunteers page. And even if you don’t wish to volunteer, just bring yourself and your cheering voice to one of the many games throughout the season—we hope to make a new connection with you!
